What's the difference between the reserve and a conservancy?
The national reserve (county-run) has no vehicle limits and prohibits off-road driving, night drives and walking. The surrounding community conservancies (Naboisho, Olare Motorogi, Mara North, Ol Kinyei…) cap vehicles per sighting, allow off-road/night drives and walking safaris, and are far less crowded — at a conservancy fee of about USD 80-150 per person per night (usually bundled into camp rates).
