cultural note: Private/community conservancies bordering the reserve (Naboisho, Olare Motorogi, Mara North, Ol Kinyei and others) — Maasai landowners lease land to camps for lease payments plus a per-guest conservancy fee. Benefits: strict vehicle caps (max ~5 per sighting), night drives, off-road and walking safaris, and far lower tourist density. Fee (USD 80-150 pp/night) is usually bundled into camp rates.
